This week in Infant House 2 we brought out our extra tables and chairs! What seems like a simple addition to a classroom is a huge learning opportunity for older infants who are developing in toddlers! Giving our little ones access to chairs and table that is the perfect size for them fosters their independence and self confidence by meeting them right where they are. The little ones have learned how to get themselves in and out of the chairs independently which is huge for their gross motor development. We are sharing meals at the table which allows for increased socialization and learning from peers. We are learning what is and is not desired behavior at the table during lunch and having the ability to get up from the table to wash hands when finished with their meals gives them autonomy and increases self confidence. We also have introduced them to carrying materials to the table and working independently at the table which helps to build concentration and focus on singular activities! Our little are growing up so fast!!
