Children’s House 1

In preparation for St. Patrick’s Day next week we have been learning about Ireland, its flag, and the shamrock! We discussed the geography of Ireland – that it is an island: land surrounded by water. The children had fun painting a shamrock with green paint and exploring their creative sides with art.
We had a visitor this week – a Scientist! He showed us how electricity works in different electronic items such as lights, blenders, lamps etc. He also taught what it means to be a scientist- using our imagination, curiosity (asking questions), and observing and pointed out we’re all scientists! He demonstrated some experiments with electrons and how different materials conduit electricity.
As always, we worked with our Montessori materials.  The older children enjoyed using the English letter box and made words and drew the pictures too. The younger children did practical life activities- pouring, scooping, cutting, painting and sorting- for memory, concentration and eye hand coordination.Have a great weekend.
