This week in infant one we explored fire safety! We read themed books how firehouses, dressed up in firefighters gear, and had two fun sensory fire safety activities! Our first sensory activity was painting a fire. We had a fire cut out rolled up and placed into a plastic water bottle with paint. Our friends then shook, rolled, threw, and drummed the water bottle to move the paint around on the paper! We did a “putting out the fire” activity! We had a large bin filled with fire colored tissue paper and we took turns pouring water on the fire! This was a great sensory and fine motor activity, it also introduced pouring work. Pouring work is a staple in a Montessori curriculum! This week we also focused on the letter B this week and had a new B themed tray! Our friends also learned all about the square and cube! We counted the sides of a square, traced them, and did hand over hand drawing of squares! For the cube we practiced the small 3D S was another authentic Montessori work where our friends used their fine motor and hand-eye-coordination to place a cube in and out of a small box!
